The Aluminaire Affair Fine Art Print |  Frey & Kocher's Aluminaire House

Based upon his original painting (an acrylic on panel) of the same name, Shag (Josh Agle) has created a limited-edition fine art print of The Aluminaire Affair for October Modernism Weekend 2025.

The Aluminaire House is a three-story prefabricated house designed as a case study by architects Alfred Lawrence Kocher and Albert Frey in April of 1931. It is the first prefab metal house designed and built in the United States.

As it is Albert Frey's first design, the Aluminaire House is now a featured exhibit at the Palm Springs Art Museum near his last design built in 1964, Frey House II, which is located on the hillside behind the museum with an overlooking view the Aluminaire House.

This fine art print edition was designed by Shag in collaboration with the Palm Springs Art Museum to celebrate The Aluminaire House.

The original painting and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Palm Springs Art Museum.

There were 14 passes of bright ink colors for added depth and better color saturation for this serigraph fine art print. Serigraph printing is an intensive process that utilizes a silk screen technique to recreate an original artwork on special archival paper so you can have Shag’s (Josh Agle) artwork for lifetimes of enjoyment.

The artist, Shag, has signed and numbered each fine art print of this edition by hand. When facing, his signature can be found in the right bottom corner. The bottom left corner has the fine art print number with the size of the edition. The number will match the Certificate of Authenticity assigned to each individual fine art print in the edition.
