The Bluest Note Fine Art Print

This special fine art print was created to celebrate the 85th Anniversary of Blue Note Records, a legendary jazz recording label that grew to be a massive influence on modern music, art, and culture.

Shag shares his inspiration for The Bluest Note:

"I wanted to show the process of making a Blue Note Record, from the recording process to the photography and graphic design, to the distribution in record stores. Finally, I wanted to picture a finished record being enjoyed by a listener. The two founders of the label, Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff are in the image. Alfred Lion was involved in producing and recording the albums and Francis Wolf took the distinctive black and white photography that came to symbolize the record label."

There were 11 passes of bright ink colors for added depth and better color saturation for this serigraph fine art print. Serigraph printing is an intensive process that utilizes a silk screen technique to recreate an original artwork on special archival paper.  All of our fine art serigraph color inks are hand pulled on on this high-quality archival paper so you can have Shag’s (Josh Agle) artwork for lifetimes of enjoyment.

The artist, Shag, has signed and numbered each fine art print of this edition by hand. When facing, his signature can be found in the right bottom corner. The bottom left corner has the fine art print number with the size of the edition. The number will match the Certificate of Authenticity assigned to each individual fine art print in the edition.
